How to Plan Your Home Design Around Mock Tudor Planks

How to Plan Your Home Design Around Mock Tudor Planks

Once you have decided to create a Tudor style home, it’s time to plan your new home design around mock Tudor planks. Mock Tudor planks are a key feature in any Tudor home design and knowing home to complement them will help to create stunning results.

Render vs Brickwork

Most often, when seeing mock Tudor planks, you will find them fixed on top of either render or brickwork. While both are perfectly suitable and entirely down to your personal taste in home design, here are the benefits of each to consider:

Render is a construction material which is applied to surfaces while wet and then dries as a solid. It works well for a contemporary design and can be applied to a range of surfaces. When paired with mock Tudor planks, it provides a blank canvas to highlight the planks.

Meanwhile brickwork is more flexible in that it works well for both modern and traditional aesthetics. When mock Tudor planks are fitted on top of brickwork it offers a more subtle, yet effective, design. It can help to tie the overall home design together for a sophisticated result.

Choosing Your RAL Colour

At Tudor Boards Ltd we have a range of RAL colours for you to choose from for your mock Tudor planks. Black, rosewood, chocolate brown, golden oak and anthracite grey are our main RAL colours for mock Tudor planks.

Each would be complementary to either render or brickwork, but it is good to consider how to tie them in with other colours in your home exterior. For example, consider the colour of your pavement, gates and front door for a consistent colour palette.

Ordering Your Mock Tudor Planks

When deciding how many planks to order from us, sketch out your idea first so you can visually see how many planks you will need. Depending on how confident you are installing planks, it is your decision if you wish to order any spare.

Our team supplies an extensive range of sizes for mock Tudor planks, ranging from 50mm to 300mm. We find that the most common sizes for mock Tudor planks are 150mm and 175mm. These are also the size of our biggest sellers. If you are looking to replace the old imperial timber planks which are typically near 145mm, a 150mm plank is the ideal size to order.

All of the planks we manufacture are a maximum length of 3.5m long and we can also create fully welded 90 degree right angled corners at 3.5m. When you request a quote from us, you will also be quoted for fixings, adhesives and tools that allow you to easily install your new planks onto your home. Simply let us know how many 3.5m planks you would like to order and our team can work out the rest.
